LESSONS AND CONCERTS:
Lessons are held every week during school terms, we do not train in school holidays. We have a few free come and try days at the beginning of the year to encourage new members.
Lessons are structured so students learn the importance of warming up and stretching, working as a team, proper technique, musicality, advancing their skill levels, and having fun. We sometimes use games to teach movement exercises that allows all students to be included and works to each skill level.
We have routines the students learn put to music for them to perform at our concerts. With these routines students, will learn different skills, timing, deportment, and flex.

We have 2 concerts per year.
Our mid-year concert is at the end of term 2 on the last training night for the term. Students wear a black leotard and have their hair and makeup done on the night. This concert is for parents to see how the students are progressing and what they have learnt so far. It also gives students an opportunity to practice on stage.

Our end of year showcase is at the end of term 4 usually the last Friday of term. This is open to the general public. Students are provided with a costume for each routine they have learnt including the below mentioned Fancy item costume that the students get to keep. We have lighting and sound equipment to make it a professional performance. Tickets to sell for this performance are provided via online booking in the weeks leading up to it. We also have a raffle draw on the night and ask parents to help source prizes and sell tickets for this raffle to help fund-raise for the club. Parents are also asked to help provide items for the supper that is suppled during interval on the night.

Some classes towards the end of the year are Mandatory attendance including dress rehersals.

Dates for both concerts will be notified no later than at the end of Term 1.

As Calisthenics is a team sport all students need to attend as many lessons as possible during the year. New moves are taught every lesson participation in each lesson and practice is vital to the students having confidence in their abilities when going on stage. We encourage home practice as well to allow students to become proficient in their routines, parents are welcome to discuss with the coach if they feel that their child needs help with a particular section they have been trying at home or a demonstration of how it should be done. We have a members section on our website which has instructional videos posted to assist with home practice as well as a team messenger communication group.

Our coach is a fully qualified Level 1 coach with the calisthenics association and has been doing calisthenics from a young age and coaching since 2008. All our committee members have police clearances and training in working with small children. And have covid and covid Marshall training. We endeavor to have a very safe environment and teach new technical skills in a controlled manner with safety mats in place. However, we also want our parents to rest assured we are also covered by public liability and professional indemnity insurance provided by Dansurance Australia. Parents are welcome to watch lessons during the come and try's / 1st and 2nd lesson however to avoid distraction to student parents are asked to wait in the foyer area during class if they wish to stay on the premises, however the
coach may request a parent to be present at any time and any parent can request to be present for a lesson after discussion with the coach.
